Yeah the Mosin is a great rifle. Its sounds like a cannon going off. Kicks like one too. After putting 100 rounds through it my arm is usually limp.

Thanks. I wanted military surplus rifles for one they are battle tested and two they are awesome. Now I want a solid factory rifle to do some shooting for groups and play around with load development.

Thanks.

I think I'm going to buy a Remington 700 next and put in one of those HS precision mag conversion kits. They are pretty expensive but I read they are really solid and good quality.

Here's my new rifle. Remington 700 in .30-06 with Bushnell 3200 Elite Tactical and TPS rings and 20 MOA base. I just picked up 2 boxes of 208 A-Maxes so I'm going to start working up a load once I get some powder. I am going to try Re19 and Re22.

Re22 or RL22 for 30-06 is an compressed load for the silver tips, got to look at the book make sure.

Nice looking rifle btw.

Yeah Re22 would fill up the case before pressure got too high. That's why I want to test Re19 to see if I could get a little more velocity.

Nice rifle man.

I've had good luck with RL-19 in a few '06s. I did a little testing with RL-22 but didn't get the accuracy or velocity that i was looking for w/180's anyway...but a heavier bullet RL-22 may work good. Let us know your results when ya test'em.

One of my friends works for a gun shop so I got some good deals on the rifle and the scope. I can't remember how much anymore.

I did load up some 208s with 56.0 grains of Re22 and seated them just off the lands. I went out to the desert to shoot them but the wind kept blowing my targets over so I never got to zero my scope or shoot groups. I decided to take a shot at some rocks at about 700 yards. First shot hit the rocks so I fired off the rest of my hand loads. Those 208s got out there in a hurry. I hope to work up an actual load soon but haven't had much time.
