Nice! I'm gonna have to get the wife to film some of our next shoot (when the rain stops long enough to do anything) Maybe next time she won't spend the whole time taking pics of the dang dogs lol!!!

That's Machias Rifle Ranges... AKA Seattle Rifle and Pistol Assoc.
I'm very lucky that it's only 25 minuets from my home! Nice to be able to shoot groups at 500yds.

Nice rifles. I like those AICS set ups.
I read the 6.5-284 burns up the barrels pretty quick. Do you know anything about that?

6.5 Ultra would burn a barrel up durring break in . I've got a couple buddies who use 6.5x284's and they're definately barrel burners. You can expect about 1000 rounds of top accuracy. Acceptable long range hunting accuracy would probably be arround 1500 rounds maybe more.

Wow 1,000 rounds isn't much out of a rifle. Maybe thats why I have never come across one at the range.

In practical field shooting you probably wouldn't notice anything untill 1500rds or so. The benchrest croud notices a little sooner when accuracy starts to fall off. The throat in my 7wsm started moving forward (noticably) at 1100 rounds. I have about 1350 through it now and accuracy is still excellent. In general the 6.5x284 and 7wsm are very simular in barrel life/throat erosion.

Is the chamber and bore chrome-lined or will that have any affect on the erosion?

Chromed barrels offer superior longevity as far as I know. You don't really see this feature offered in the "match grade" or "accuracy" barrel market. I could only guess that it may be difficult to maintain perfect consistancy in chrome thickness to keep tollerances. I can only speculate now. I really haven't researched chrome lined barrels.

I work for a plastic injection molding company and some of the molds need chrome-lining because some plastics are corrosive when melted, especially a lot of the gases released, and the companies actually are able to hold to a few thousandths of an inch tolerance. The mold components have to fit exactly to so the plating process is pretty exact.
