Just wondering how far most people have shot and actually hit what they were aiming at.

I started of with a lot of shooting in the 400 to 600 yard range. Then when I recieved my new .338 Edge last year I began to experiment with long range shooting.

First I went out to 1000 yards and found that pretty easy, then I pushed out to 1543 yards and had great success.
So I then worked out what the maximum elevation I could get from my 20 MOA rail in combination with my 5.5-22x56 Nightforce scope. It worked out that I could get a distance of over 2200 yards so I set up a large target at 2285 yards and had a go at it.

Well on the first day the bullets landed all over the place so I changed load, second day was no better. Third day I tried a different bullet and had much better success with most bullets landing well inside a 2m group and I hit the target.
So my record is 2285 yards after a lot of effort. What is yours?
Photo shows looking through the scope and the aiming mark that I had to use to make the shot. Target is about 2.5 MOA marks from the bottom of the reticle. Camera is on a lean, not the scope.

The farthest I have pocked out to so far is 1,932 yards but I want to break the 2,000 mark this year.
I have enough elevation in my scope to get to about 2,300 yards so if I can get a good load worked up we will see what happens.

I hit an 8 inch steel plate at 300 yards with my M1 Garand open sights which is the furthest my ranges goes. I don't have a long range rifle set up yet but I am trying to get something going.

Nice one. Sean was with me one very early sunrise when I poked a beautiful three shot group out to 2790! It took us 15 minutes to drive over there and set up the 4' x 8' sheet of plywood.  I held over 140' left for wind drift. What an amazing morning that was. We need to do it again Seano!!!!

My partner and I go Prairie Dog shooting every year.  My longest shot was 840 yard and his was 925 yards.  This year we are going to try for 1000 yard shots.  We both had custom rifles made just for the event.  His is a 243 Ackley Improved and mine is a 6 BR Norma and an ackley .243.  We are using 107 SMK and Nosler 105 Custom Competition bullets.  The rifles are wearing Lilja 3 groove barrels and Leupold scopes.  Trigers are Shilen and Jewell. Stocks are Remington 40X.

Mine is on top

My backup rifles.  L to R:  243 Ackley, 6BR Norma, .223 Remington and 6BR Remington.
