Just wondering how far most people have shot and actually hit what they were aiming at.
I started of with a lot of shooting in the 400 to 600 yard range. Then when I recieved my new .338 Edge last year I began to experiment with long range shooting.
First I went out to 1000 yards and found that pretty easy, then I pushed out to 1543 yards and had great success.
So I then worked out what the maximum elevation I could get from my 20 MOA rail in combination with my 5.5-22x56 Nightforce scope. It worked out that I could get a distance of over 2200 yards so I set up a large target at 2285 yards and had a go at it.
Well on the first day the bullets landed all over the place so I changed load, second day was no better. Third day I tried a different bullet and had much better success with most bullets landing well inside a 2m group and I hit the target.
So my record is 2285 yards after a lot of effort. What is yours?
Photo shows looking through the scope and the aiming mark that I had to use to make the shot. Target is about 2.5 MOA marks from the bottom of the reticle. Camera is on a lean, not the scope.
