On our next 1K shoot this month, I will be entering my 308 for the first time. My bullet of choice will be the 155 grain Lapua Scenar. I had been playing with this bullet for a while now but never shot it beyond beyond 600 yards. With velocity approaching 3000 fps, I have no doubt it will do good. My load consist of 44.8 grains of Varget, Federal 210 Match Primer, on a Federal Gold Medal brass. Velocity average around 2965 fps. I'm surprised to achieved such a high velocity for such a low charge of Varget. Must be due to the 3 grove 12 twist Pac-Nor that I choose for my first 308 build.

Here's some groups shot with this rifle using the 155 grain Lapua Scenar.

5 shot group

shot this 3 shot group at 525 yards on a 12 mile an hour wind. You can tell from horizontal stringing.

3 shot at 510 yards.

Here's the rifle built by Gruning Precision

Blue Printed Remington 700 short
HS Detachable Magazine and Bottom metal
HS Stock
Pac-Nor Super match 3 grove 12 twist barrel
Arnold Jewell HVR trigger
Gruning Precision 20MOA Picatinny Base
Action and barrel Teflon Coated
Karsten Cheekpiece
Chambered for 308 Obermeyer

Replaced the Leupold 16X MK4 with Nikon Tactical Scope 2.5X10X44

Now with IOR 3X18X42

Shot 5 shot group each @ 110 yards last time at the range together with with my 6.5 and 338 Lapua. The 3 rifle shot really will, and competing for attention. The 308 was on the top target center about an inch low. 6.5 at top target upper left and the 338 at the bottom target.
